Jesus 365 - June June 1 I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Our forefathers ate manna and died, but he who feeds on this bread will live for ever. J6:53-58 h June 2 What if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before! The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. Yet there are some of you who do not believe. This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled him. J6:61-64 & 65 d June 3 Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: 'These people honour me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.' You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men. Mt15:7-9 / Mk7:6-8 (Isaiah 29:13) h June 4 You have a fine way of setting aside and breaking the commands of God for the sake of observing your own traditions! For God, through Moses, said, 'Honour you father and mother,' and, 'Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.' But you say that if a man says to his father or mother: 'Whatever help you might otherwise have received from me is Corban' (that is, a gift devoted to God), then he is not to 'honour his father' with it; you no longer let him do anything for his father or mother. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that. Mt15:3-6 / Mk7:9-13 (Exodus 20:12 / Deuteronomy 5:16 / Exodus21:17 / Leviticus20:9) h June 5 Listen to me, everyone, and understand this. Nothing outside a man can make him 'unclean' by going into his mouth. Rather, it is what comes out of a man's mouth that makes him 'unclean'. Mt15:10-11 / Mk7:14-15 h June 6 Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by the roots. Leave them; they are blind guides. If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit. Mt15:13-14 d June 7 Whatever enters the mouth from the outside doesn't go into the heart but into the stomach and then out of the body. But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man 'unclean'. For out of the heart within come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. These are what make a man 'unclean'; but eating with unwashed hands does not make him 'unclean'. Mt15:17-20 / Mk7:18-23 d June 8 When evening comes, you say, 'It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,' and in the morning, 'Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.' When you see a cloud rising in the west, immediately you say, 'It's going to rain,' and it does. And when the south wind blows, you say, 'It's going to be hot,' and it is. Hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of this present time. Why does this wicked and adulterous generation look for a miraculous sign? I tell you the truth, none will be given to it except the sign of Jonah. Mt15:2-4 / Mk8:12 / L12:54-56 m June 9 Be careful, be on your guard against and watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees and that of Herod. Remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how meant basketfuls you gathered? Or the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many basketfuls you gathered? Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees. Mt16:6,9-10 & 11 / Mk8:15 & 19-20 d June 10 Who do you say I am? Mt16:15 / Mk8:29 / L9:20 d June 11 If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. Mt16:14 / Mk8:34 / L9:23 m June 12 Whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will find it and save it. What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul; his very self? Mt16:25-26 / Mk8:35-37 / L9:24-25 m June 13 If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels; he will reward each person according to what he has done. Mt16:27 / Mk8:38 / L9:26 m June 14 I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom - the kingdom of God - with power. Mt16:28 / Mk9:1 / L9:27 m June 15 O unbelieving and perverse generation, how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. Everything is possible for him who believes. Mt17:17 & 20 / Mk9:19 & 23 / L9:41 m June 16 I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Mt18:2-3 d June 17 Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me. Mt18:4-5 / Mk9:37 / L9:48 d June 18 If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all. For he who is least among you all - he is the greatest. Mk9:35 / L9:48 d June 19 If anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung round his neck and to be thrown into the depths of the sea and drowned. Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to sin! Such things must come, but woe to the man through whom they come! Mt18:6-7 / Mk9:42 d June 20 If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out. And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, where 'their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.' Mt18:8-9 / Mk9:43-48 (Isaiah 66:24) d June 21 See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven. Mt18:10-11 d June 22 What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go and look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he is happier about that one sheep, than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. In the same way, your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost. Mt18:12-14 d June 23 Everyone will be salted with fire. Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, can you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with each other. Mk9:49-50 d June 24 If your brother sins against you, go and show him your fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that 'every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.' If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector. Mt18:15-17 (Deuteronomy 19:15) d June 25 I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Mt18:18 d June 26 I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them. Mt18:19 d June 27 Forgive your brother... ... not seven times, but seventy-seven times. Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand talents was brought to him. Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt. The servant fell on his knees before him. 'Be patient with me,' he begged, 'and I will pay back everything.' The servant's master took pity on him, cancelled the debt, and let him go. But when the servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii. He grabbed him and began to choke him. 'Pay back what you owe me!' he demanded. His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, 'Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.' But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt. When the other servants saw what had happened, they were greatly distressed and went and told their master everything that had happened. Then the master called the servant in. 'You wicked servant,' he said, 'I cancelled all the debt of yours because you begged me to. Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?' In anger his master turned him over to the jailers until he should pay back all he owed. This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart. Mt18:22-35 d June 28 The world... hates me because I testify that what it does is evil. J7:7 d June 29 My teaching is not my own. It comes from him who sent me. If any one chooses to do God's will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own. J7:16-17 h June 30 He who speaks on his own does so to gain honour for himself, but he who works for the honour of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him. J7:18 h
