Jesus 365 - July

July 1

I did one miracle, and you are all astonished. Yet, because Moses gave you circumcision (though actually it did not come from Moses, but from the patriarchs), you circumcise a child on the Sabbath. Now if a child can be circumcised on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses may not be broken, why are you angry with me for healing the whole man on the Sabbath? Stop judging by mere appearances, and make a right judgement.          J7:21-24  h

July 2

Yes, you know me, and you know where I am from. I am not here on my own, but he who sent me is true. You do not know him, but I know him because I am from him and he sent me.          J7:28-29

July 3

If a man is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.          J7:37  m

July 4

Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.

By this he meant the Spirit.          J7:38-39 (cf. Ezekiel 47:1 / Zecariah 14:8)  m

July 5

If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone...           J7:7  h

July 6

I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.           J8:12  m

July 7

Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going. But you have no idea where I came from and where I am going. You judge by human standards; I pass judgement on no one. But if I do judge, my decisions are right, because I am not alone. I stand with the Father who sent me. In your own Law it is written that the testimony of two men is valid. I am one who testifies for myself; my other witness is the one who sent me - the Father.          J8:14-18  h

July 8

If you knew me, you would know my Father also.          J8:19  h

July 9

I am going away, and you will look for me, and you will die in your sin. Where I go, you cannot come. You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be, you will indeed die in your sins.      J8:21 & 23-24  h

July 10

I have much to say in judgement of you. But he who sent me is reliable, and what I have heard from him I tell the world.          J8:26  h

July 11

When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know who I am and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me.                J8:27  h

July 12

The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him.       J8:29  h

July 13

If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.          J8:31-32  m

July 14

I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. I know you are Abraham's descendants. Yet you are ready to kill me, because you have no room for my word.           J8:34-37  h

July 15

I am telling you what I have seen in the Father's presence, and you do what you have heard from your father. If you were Abraham's children, then you would do the things Abraham did. As it is, you are determined to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do such things. You are doing the things your own father does. If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me. Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? I am telling the truth, why don't you believe me? He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.          J8:38-47  h

July 16

I am not possessed by a demon, but I honour my Father and you dishonour me. I am not seeking glory for myself; but there is one who seeks it, and he is the judge. I tell you the truth, if a man keeps my word, he will never see death.          J8:49-51  h

July 17

If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim is your God, is the one who glorifies me. Though you do not know him, I know him. If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and keep his word.          J8:54  h

July 18

Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad. I tell you the truth, before Abraham was born, I am!          J8:56 & 58  h

July 19

Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.          Mt8:20 / L9:58

July 20

Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.          Mt8:22 / L9:59 & 60

July 21

No one who puts his hand to the plough and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.          L9:62

July 22

The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.          L10:2  d

July 23

Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.          L10:3  d

July 24

Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road.          L10:4  d

July 25

When you enter a house, first say, 'Peace to this house.' If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; if not, it will return to you. Stay in that house, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house.          L10:5-7  d

July 26

When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is set before you. Heal the sick who are there and tell them, 'The kingdom of God is near you.' But when you enter a town and are not welcomed, go into its streets and say, 'Even the dust of your town that sticks to our feet we wipe off against you. Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God is near.' I tell you, it will be more bearable for Sodom on the day of judgement than for that town. Woe to you, Korazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! F or if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgement than for you. And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted up to the skies? No, you will go down to the depths. If the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day.           Mt11:21-24 / L10:8-15  d

July 27

He who listens to you listens to me; but he who rejects me rejects him who sent me.          L10:16  d

July 28

I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.           L10:18-20  d

July 29

I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.          Mt11:25-26 / L10:21  m

July 30

All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.          Mt11:27 / L10:22  m

July 31

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.          Mt11:28
