Jesus 365 - February February 1 I tell you the truth, whoever hears my words and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. J5:24 h February 2 I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted to the Son to have life in himself. And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man. Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out - those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned. J5:25-29 h February 3 By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judging is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me. J5:30 h
February 4 If I testify about myself, my testimony is not valid. There is another who testifies in my favour, and I know his testimony about me is valid. You have sent to John and he has testified to the truth. Not that I accept human testimony; but I mention it that you may be saved. John was a lamp that burned and gave light, and you chose for a time to enjoy his light. J5:31-35 h
February 5 I have testimony weightier than that of John. For the very work that the Father has given me to finish, and which I am doing, testifies that the Father has sent me. J5:36 h February 6 The Father who sent me has himself testified concerning me. You have never heard his voice nor seen his form, nor does his word dwell in you, for you do not believe the one he sent. You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you posses eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life. J5:37-40 h February 7 I do not accept praise from men, but I know you. I know that you do not have the life of God in your hearts. I have come in my Father's name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him. How can you believe if you accept praise from one another, yet make no effort to obtain the praise that comes from the only God? If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me. J5:41-44 & 46 h February 8 Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need? In the days of Abiathar the high priest, he entered the house of God and he and his companions ate the consecrated bread - which was not lawful for them to do, but only the priests. Or haven't you read in the Law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple desecrate the day and yet are innocent? I tell you that one greater than the temple is here. If you had known what these words mean, 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice', you would not have condemned the innocent. The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath. Mt12:3-8 / Mk2:25-28 / L6:3-5 h February 9 If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out? How much more valuable is man than a sheep! I ask you, therefore, which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy it? Mt12:11-12 / Mk3:4 / L6:9 h February 10 Blessed are you who are poor - in spirit, for yours is the Kingdom of God and of heaven. Mt5:3 / L6:20 m February 11 Blessed are you who mourn and weep now, for you will be comforted and you will laugh. Mt5:4 / L6:21 m February 12 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Mt5:5 m February 13 Blessed are you who hunger now, and thirst for righteousness, for you will be filled and satisfied. Mt5:6 / L6:21 m February 14 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Mt5:7 m February 15 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Mt5:8 m February 16 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. Mt5:9 m February 17 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Mt5:10 m February 18 Blessed are you when people hate you and persecute you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name and falsely say all kinds of evil against you, because of the Son of Man. Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For in the same way their fathers persecuted the prophets who were before you. Mt5:11-12 / L:22-23 d February 19 Woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort. Woe to you who are well fed now, for you will go hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep. Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for that is how their fathers treated the false prophets. L6:24-26 d February 20 You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. Mt5:13 m February 21 You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. Mt5:14-16 m February 22 Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfil them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven. Mt5:17-20 m February 23 You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not commit murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgement.' But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgement. Again, anyone who says to his brother 'Raca,' is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell. Mt5:21-22 (Exodus 20:13) m February 24 If you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift. Mt5:23-24 m February 25 Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still with him on the way, or he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison. I tell you the truth, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny. Mt5:25-26 m February 26 You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.' But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Mt5:27-28 (Exodus 20:14) m February 27 If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell. Mt5:29-30 m February 28 It has been said, 'Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.' But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness causes her to commit adultery, and anyone who marries a woman so divorced commits adultery. Mt5:31-32 (Deuteronomy24:1) m
